Morgan House in Golders Green

2000-2002

This project involved the construction of a three-story extension to the original family house. The extension comprises a new entrance hall on the ground floor, a study on the first floor, and a gallery space under a mono-pitched roof. The new entrance area is an extension of the existing hall, where the replacement of the dog-legged staircase into a straight-flight one throughout the house has created a bigger and better balanced space in this busy area where main circulation takes place. In addition, a double glass door (located opposite the main entrance) now leads from the hall to the back courtyard, providing more light to the entire hall area. A study/family room has been situated on the first floor. The new mono-pitched roof makes room for a gallery with further office space, well lit by a huge roof window and a back window.
