Private House in Willesden Green – Glass Extension
London, UK
2000-2001
We were commissioned to design a side glass extension and utility room and to consolidate the somewhat compartmentalised plan of the ground floor of a semi-detached family house.
The rear part facing the garden has been restructured so that, with the side extension, it forms a huge elongated space accessed from the hall via two big sliding doors, opposite which two more glass sliding doors lead to the garden. Alignment of these doors with the main entrance door opens up a cross view through the house onto the garden. A utility room has been positioned between the glass extension and the existing garage (which is now also directly connected to the house). A strip of glass on the roof of the extension continues across the utility room, providing its natural light.
